An ACLU donation receipt is given after a contribution has been given to the organization from a donor. Even though the receipt cannot be deducted from the donor’s tax filing at the end of the year, it may be stored for their accounting records. The ACLU is not a 501(c)(3) non-profit even though it does the civic duty of protecting people’s rights who may not otherwise be able to defend themselves.
